The Source Of Power In Golf Swing

What's the secret source of power in your golf swing? Is it your equipment? Your mechanics? The ball you play? How hard you swing? Or maybe mental? Golfers spend a lot of money in hopes for maximum power, distance and performance.

Golf Swing Power

More power in your golf swing. How do you get it? There are many reasons why a golfer doesn't generate power. Their swing mechanics, tempo and timing are off. They have physical restrictions that won't allow them to make a full backswing, that creates maximum torque. No core strength to generate high clubhead speed coming down. And lack of solid ball/clubface contact.

Mains sources of Power

So the main ingredients then to hitting the ball farther is tempo and ball contact. If you have good tempo, you technique should take care of itself. With the 'controlled' swing mechanics and tempo comes consistent ball to clubface contact, creating maximum impact on ball.

So many times golfers try to swing harder thinking they'll get more power. The exact opposite happens. Swinging harder created "tension", and tension slows your golf swing speed! Not the outcome you want right?

Consistent ball contact is hard for 90% of all amateur golfers! Unless you practice 3-4 times a week on your swing technique, it is virtually impossible to make good contact even 50% of the time. This by itself is one of the main culprits for a massive loss of power and distance.

Solution

The answer to more power is a practice schedule that shows improvement in your swing technique and tempo. For some that could only be once a week regularly. For others, that might mean 2-3 times a week to see improvement. I firmly believe you get out of it what you put into it.

So just remember, the source of power in your golf swing is contact, tempo and swing mechanics. Get these right and the distance will come easily.
