Golf Instructional Videos - My Secret Weapon
So maybe calling Golf instructional videos my secret weapon is a bit strong... How ever they are the reason I have been able to take my golf game to the next level. I have been a struggling amateur golfer for the last 6 years. Of course the first couple of seasons I played my scores decreased in leaps and bounds from the first season 120 to 130 to under 100 consistently by the third season. How ever it was there that I got stuck and couldn't break through the 90 barrier.
Of course some days were better then others on the course, I'd hit most of the fairways, make a few good chips and even my putting wasn't that bad. How ever I was missing consistency to really take my game to the next level and shoot at least bogey golf.
Golf Lessons as a solution
I took some golf lessons at local pro shops, getting the local golf pros to tweak my swing, record me and give me pointers on where I was making errors. The thing is that when I really had a question on what was I doing wrong I was normally on the 7th hole and guess what my instructor was no where to be found. Not to mention to take lessons all season long gets pretty darn expensive. I figured I must be able to help myself better my game without having to see a pro each week. I knew it would take work and practice but I wanted a way on my own terms I could learn what I needed to know then practice it until it was second nature.
Enter Golf Instructional DVDs
It was at this point I stumbled on some great golf instructional DVDs while doing a search online. The price was quite a bit more then the average DVD movie, how ever it made sense because of the value the products were suggesting I was going to receive. So I took a chance and bought the entire set. Realistically looking back the cost was equal to less then what I was spending each spring on a few lessons so I didn't have much to lose. Not to mention the company was offering a money back garauantee if I wasn't satisfied with my purchase.
The results
I was just ecstatic at what came next. I watched the first DVD which was an overview of the entire golf swing. It was fantastic the golf instruction taught me how to swing properly as an amateur golfer, not like a pro. Thinking back many instructors teach methods to swing like Tiger or Vijay how ever we're none of those people. For those of us that play once or twice a week we should learn a more laid back style that doesn't require such exactness and that is exactly what this golf dvd was teaching me.
The teaching methods were the best I'd ever seen bar none. The golf pro on the instructional DVD would spend several minutes on each point to be made about swing mechanics, then review it. At the end of the 1 hour DVD there had been about a dozen points covered from how to stand and grip the club to where the club should be after your follow through. I finally had a great platform to work with and practice. It was something I had never had before, most instructors kept trying to fix my old swing with small tweaks rather then show me how the swing should work from beginning to end it was what I needed to see.
The result was after only a half dozen rounds I'd seen a consistent drop in the 80's for my score. My golf buddies all wondered what I had done to make such drastic improvement so quickly. Of course I kept it under wraps for a bit until I had beaten them a few times.
If you're a struggling golfer I highly recommend you consider researching golf instruction videos. Not only can they cover more information then you can receive in a lesson or two but they are yours available all the time as a reference for your game should you need it. Becoming a great golfer takes hard work, and practice. How ever it's practice at the right things that will really make the difference and have you shooting the score you dream of.
